Watercolor Workshop: Building Tone & Texture with Charcoal & Conté
Instructor: Diane Fiedler
Registration opens March 4 at 6:00 PM
Increase the drama of your watercolors! Create 2 impressive watercolors— Brooding Waterfall & Evocative Nude — using pencil, charcoal and conté crayon. You’ll be exploring many different materials of soft to hard-pressed pigments for under-drawing drawing development, color fields and subtle finishes. First, we create a rough drawing that guides you as you dissolve, tone, and push the potential of the photo references’ light. Then we discuss transparency vs. opaque watercolor choices to develop the lyrical color aspects of the works. Additionally, as you develop each painting, you can explore other “sticks” that offer other color “opinions” and designs such as Yarka Sauce, Caran D’Ache, and Graphitint pencils (provided by the instructor.)
*A list of materials will be sent to the registered students.
