Front of House & Concessions

The Mosesian Center for the Arts is entering an exciting new chapter. Our organization is in a time of transition, with a team of artists and a new generation of leadership at the helm. As we grow, we are seeking passionate, reliable, and community-minded individuals to join our Front of House and Concessions team. These roles are essential to creating a welcoming, safe, and joyful experience for our audiences, artists, and community partners.

• You’re excited about supporting live events, BIPOC & LGBTQ+ artistry, and community. 
• You’re collaborative, dependable, and flexible. 

Requirements 
• Bartenders: Current TIPS certification required before first shift. 
• House Managers: Current MA Crowd Manager Certification required before first shift. 
• All positions: Prior customer service, hospitality, or event experience preferred. Training will be provided. 

Hours & Pay 
• Part-time, event-based positions (primarily evenings and weekends). 
• Flexible scheduling — applicants may work across multiple roles or shift into new ones over time. Shifts can be arranged around your availability as long as full coverage is maintained. Note that part-time employees cannot work more than 30 hours/week.  
• Hourly pay based on position: 
• Bartenders start at 100% tips + $15/hour. 
• House Managers & Patron Services Associates start at $20/hour.

About the Organization 
The Mosesian Center for the Arts (MCA) is a dynamic multidisciplinary arts center located in a 30,000-square-foot historic building in Watertown, Massachusetts. Our facility includes a 339-seat main stage theater, a black box performance space, visual arts classrooms and studios, galleries, and administrative offices.   

We present and support a wide range of programming—professional and community-based theater, live music, comedy, visual art exhibitions, and arts education for all ages. Technical Overhire

Stagehands, Lighting Programmers/Operators, Audio Engineers (A1/A2), and A/V Support

As we grow, we are seeking skilled, reliable, and community-minded individuals to join our Technical Overhire Pool. These roles are essential to supporting safe, smooth, and high-quality experiences for our artists, audiences, and community partners across a wide variety of live events.

 

Open Positions
• Stagehands / Run Crew (4–6 openings)
• Lighting Programmers & Console Operators (ETC) (2–3 openings)
• Audio Engineers – A1 & A2, plus general A/V Support (2–3 openings)
• General Technical Overhire (flexible/varied skillsets)

 

About You
• You value safety, collaboration, and a well-run production environment.
• You thrive in a fast-paced, live event setting with shifting needs.
• You’re excited about supporting live performance, BIPOC & LGBTQ+ artistry, and community-centered work.
• You’re dependable, communicative, and comfortable working either independently or as part of a team.

 

Qualifications:
Stagehands / Run Crew: Prior backstage, theatrical carpentry, electrics, or run-crew experience preferred.
Lighting Programmers/Operators: Experience with ETC consoles; ability to read plots and follow designer notes.
Audio (A1/A2 & A/V Techs): Experience with digital consoles (Behringer X32 preferred), wireless mic management, and basic A/V setups. Experience with QLab (programming/operating) is preferred.
All positions: Ability to lift 25–50 lbs, climb ladders, and work safely around theatrical equipment. Ability to work at heights of 40’ and safely operate a Genie lift.
Industry experience strongly preferred, but emerging technicians with interest and baseline skills are encouraged to apply.

 

Hours & Pay
• Part-time, event-based positions (primarily evenings and weekends; occasional weekday load-ins).
• Flexible scheduling — applicants may work across multiple technical areas depending on skill and interest.
• Shifts are scheduled around crew availability while ensuring full event coverage.
• Hourly rates start at $25/hour for all technical and production overhire roles. Technical Leads/Supervisors are paid a higher rate based on experience/coverage.
• This is a W9 independent contractor opportunity.

Internships

The internship program is an opportunity for students in grades 6-12 to grow as artists, educators, and leaders. Students will gain real-world experience in the arts and mentorship to best facilitate their growth. Interested students should complete an Internship Application Form. Volunteer Opportunities

Our volunteer program connects community members to volunteer opportunities within the organization. Our volunteers contribute significantly to many areas of MCA including ushering for events, teaching assistance, event set-up and break-down, and other program and administrative support.
