Have you heard the word “reimagine” from us enough in the past year? Your answer is probably yes.
Beginning in March 2020, we all had to reimagine, replan, and reassemble much of our lives. In some cases, we’ve found the silver lining. Some families have spent more time together. Some of us have taken on at-home projects or long-planned hobbies. And, here at MCA, we’ve taken advantage of a closed building to reimagine how our lobby, galleries, and classrooms could improve. Unfortunately, this will keep our building closed until approximately early November 2021. The silver lining will be the spectacular spaces you’ll see when you return.
Beginning with a feasibility study last summer, our work with the talented architects and designers at Sasaki has produced the floorplans and designs you see here on this page. This major renovation of the entrance, lobby, and other public and administrative spaces will increase useable square footage and improve building security, public health, and visitor experience.
We’ve long known that ART CHANGES LIVES, and this renovation will help to change the lives of all who enter to make, learn, enjoy, and be inspired by the art within our walls. We look forward to reopening and welcoming you back in late fall of this year!
JOIN THE REIMAGINE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
Through the generosity of our supporters, we have come such a long way toward reimagining MCA 2021. During our building’s closure since March 2020, MCA’s Facility Committee has been hard at work making this project come to life. With construction underway in Building 312, we have launched our Reimagine 2021 Capital Campaign. Help us raise the last $300,000 to Reimagine MCA 2021!
