Week 2 • July 13-17
Fiber Arts & Jewelry Making
Gr. 6-8 (grade entering Fall 2026)
Learn the art and lifelong skill of hand sewing as well as how fiber arts can be anything from friendship bracelets to wall hangings, quilts, and clothing and explore the decorative art of jewelry making. Draw inspiration from ancient adornments, intricate beadwork, and modern metalsmiths. Using different fabrics, wool, yarn, and thread, as well as glass seed beads, organic stones, charms, and your own polymer clay beads participants will learn new skills through projects including embroidery, weaving, dyeing, and felting and will create a variety of wearable art pieces.
For all programs, participants should pack and bring a nut-free lunch and snacks each day as well as a reusable water bottle. We also strongly encourage a change of clothing to be kept on hand in a backpack in case of emergencies. All programs are hands on, and participants should wear clothing in which they can move freely and participate in art activities, as well as play outdoors (weather-permitting) during choice times.
