In This Place, presented by the Mosesian Center for the Arts in conjunction with the 250th Anniversary Treaty Day Celebration, commemorates the historic signing of the first treaty between the newly formed United States and the Mi’kmaq and Maliseet Nations. The exhibition features work by artists with connections to the Mi’kmaq and Maliseet Nations, as well as Indigenous artists with ties to the lands along the river now known as the Charles. While some works respond directly to the 1776 treaty and its legacy, others explore broader themes of Indigenous identity, culture, history, place, and continuity. The exhibition includes a wide range of media, including painting, drawing, illustration, photography, sculpture, mixed media, video, and sound.
