Mini Experimental Printmaking - Collagraph and Monotype
Instructor: Boriana Kantcheva
Work with experienced printmaker Boriana Kantcheva to learn different ways to create collagraph plates and combine them with monotype. In this 4-week class students will focus on exploring a variety of techniques without the harsh chemicals usually associated with some of the intaglio techniques. We will explore the expressive line of dry point and will learn how to achieve a variety of tones using carborundum and some of the Golden Acrylic Paint mediums. Students will be introduced to making collagraph plates - from the materials they need to use to how to print the plates. Students will learn how to use monotype to add color to their prints and how to use stencils to achieve layered prints.
*Most materials such as inks, rollers, Plexiglass plate, newsprint, and cleaning materials will be provided. Students will be responsible for getting their own printmaking paper. Prior to the beginning of the class students will be sent options for different printmaking papers that can be purchased at an art store or online.
