Five Stars Regional Exhibition

The Mosesian Center for the Arts presents the Five Stars Regional Exhibition, a multi-media visual art exhibit, on view April 4 through May 10, 2019.

The Five Stars Regional Exhibition combines artwork from the art associations of Dedham, Needham, Newton, Watertown, and Wellesley in a narrative that presents a unique perspective on the artistic voices of our region. This is the first time these organizations have joined together in exhibition to present a look into the diversity of artistic talent that exists in this area of the Commonwealth. This union of artistic associations seeks to provide local artists access to a professional juried and judged exhibition along with the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded artists.

The Five Stars Regional Exhibition features professional and emerging contemporary art from across the Greater Boston region. Juried by Kimberly Thompson Panay, Director of Marketing and Communications at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum the exhibit includes 100 pieces of visual art in a variety of media including painting, drawing, and printmaking. From traditional landscapes to expressive monotypes, the artists featured in this exhibition draw from a broad range of sources of inspiration. The dialogue that is created between the works of art in this exhibition speaks to the diversity of our region and is representative of the explorative nature of artists in Massachusetts.

Gallery visitors can expect to encounter bold and graphic portraiture by Wellesley artist Lori Mehta contrasted with the comical collage of Samuel Adams by Joan Onofrey of Needham. A vibrant and architectural watercolor from Dedham artist Julia Blackbourn harmonizes with the multi-media dream created by Joy Vlachos of Watertown and will resonate with visitors long after they’ve experienced the work. A textural deconstructed screen-print from Ann Miller of Newton challenges visitors to reflect on the creative process and how an artist approaches their tools to create a work of art.

Five Stars Regional Exhibition is on view and open to the public April 4 to May 10, 2019, Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00 to 5:00 pm and during evening theatre events.
